AGENDA CAPTION:

Consider action on approving Change Order #1 to Kimley-Horn and Associates for the Montfort Drive Reconstruction Project design and authorize the City Manager to execute the Change Order agreement in an amount not to exceed $294,300.

BACKGROUND:

The purpose of this item is to approve Change Order #1 to the professional engineering services agreement with Kimley-Horn for the Montfort Drive Reconstruction design in the amount of $294,300, for a total revised contract amount of $1,087,000 for the project.

City Council awarded Kimley-Horn the design in April 2023 for the reconstruction of Montfort Drive, which extends from Belt Line Road about 1500 linear feet to the southern Town limits near the southern property line of the Village on the Parkway development.

Change Order #1 to this contract will add 500 linear feet south of the current project limits through the Paladium intersection and reduce the vehicle lane geometry from twelve feet to eleven feet to increase pedestrian and landscape opportunities on Montfort Drive.This will benefit the residents of the Town of Addison by continuing improvements through the intersection as well as increasing pedestrian experience and safety. Complete details of these changes can be found in the attached Change Order #1. The added cost for Change Order #1 is still within the total project budget.

The original design work was anticipated to be completed in July 2024. These additions will extend the design out six months to January 2025.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends approval.
