AGENDA CAPTION:

Present, discuss, and consider action on an Ordinance calling and ordering a special election on May 2, 2026 to dissolve the Dallas Area Rapid Transit System (DART) in the Town of Addison, Texas, subject to the continued collection of sales taxes for the period required by law; providing for location of polling places to be designated at a later date; providing for early voting; and providing an effective date.

BACKGROUND:

As directed by the City Council at the January 13, 2026 Regular City Council Meeting. Staff is bringing forward an Ordinance for Council consideration calling and ordering a special election on May 2, 2026 to dissolve the Dallas Area Rapid Transit System (DART) in the Town of Addison.

FISCAL IMPACT

There is no direct fiscal impact to order the special election, which is the sole function of this item.

RECOMMENDATION

Staff requests City Council consideration and action on the Ordinance.
