AGENDA CAPTION:

Present and discuss the current status of Taste Addison 2026, ideas for 2027, and new events for the future.

BACKGROUND:

During FY2026 budget discussions, staff was directed by the Council to proceed with the 2026 event and present an update for Council. Taste Addison is a major annual festival produced by the Town to promote tourism while supporting Addison restaurants, hotels, and other businesses. This three-day event is scheduled to take place April 17-19, 2026 at Addison Circle Park.

A request to discuss the goals, plans, and alternatives for Taste Addison 2027 was submitted by Mayor Pro-Tempore Chris DeFrancisco and Council Member Darren Gardner. Staff will review ideas that have been submitted for Council discussion. A request to discuss and explore new events was submitted by Mayor Pro-Tempore Marlin Willesen and Council Member Randy Smith. Staff will share the ideas that have been submitted for Council discussion.

FISCAL IMPACT

Taste Addison is funded by the Hotel Fund and was included in the FY2026 budget.

RECOMMENDATION

Staff is seeking direction on Taste Addison 2027 and new or alternative events.
