AGENDA CAPTION:

Consider action on a Resolution approving the annual purchase of central control irrigation equipment, from InterSpec, utilizing a Texas local government purchasing cooperative in an amount not to exceed $150,000 for the Fiscal Year 2023-2024 and authorizing the City Manager to execute such purchase orders as may be necessary and providing an effective date.

BACKGROUND:

The Parks Department is in the fifth year of a ten-year+ plan to convert existing irrigation controls to a Motorola Central Control System, replacing aging equipment with a system to enhance management, repair and operation. In FY2024, systems at Fire Station 1, Central Police Station, Conference Center, Stone Cottage, Parkview Park, Town Park, Winnwood Park, and Arapaho ROW will be converted to Central Control. A quote for the equipment to be purchased for the listed projects is attached. The expenses were included in the FY2023-24 Parks Operations and Maintenance budget. The Department will also purchase equipment on an as-needed basis to provide for construction projects that install new irrigation systems or modify existing ones. Purchase of additional irrigation equipment for construction projects will be paid for from the construction budget for those projects.

The required equipment will be purchased through BuyBoard, a state-wide collective purchasing agency that bids out services and products for its members to provide the leverage needed to achieve better pricing on products, equipment and services. The supplier for the equipment is InterSpec.

RECOMMENDATION:

Administration recommends approval.
