AGENDA CAPTION:

Consider action on a Resolution approving a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Town of Addison and the Dallas ISD Police Department setting forth the policies and procedures for the respective police departments when providing services at Dallas ISD facilities in Addison.

BACKGROUND:

The purpose of this MOU is to set out a common understanding of the policies and procedures that the Addison Police Department and the Dallas ISD Police Department will follow in providing police services to Dallas ISD schools in the Town of Addison. This MOU is a formal agreement to clarify jurisdiction, define parameters and areas of responsibility, and to establish a spirit of cooperation to enhance the services that both agencies provide at the school campuses located in the Town of Addison, in accordance with the provisions of the Texas Education Code, Section 37.081.

This MOU does not create a School Resource Officer position that will be staffed by the Addison Police Department. The primary responsibility for the safety of DISD school campuses will still be the responsibility of the DISD Police Department.

RECOMMENDATION:

Administration recommends approval.
