This work session item is being presented at the request of Council Members Gardner and Ward to discuss the following topics:

• Membership requirements for the Addison Athletic Club (AAC).
• Homestead exemption documentation and feasibility of using this exemption in lieu of a Department of Public Safety (DPS) Driver's License or ID card to establish Addison residency to meet AAC membership requirements.
• Allow the Director of Parks and Recreation to adjudicate individual applications requesting exceptions to the rules. 

Use of the Addison Athletic Club is defined by Article III, Section 58-66 in the Town's Code of Ordinance, which was amended and ratified by Council in March 2003. This ordinance limits the use of the AAC to members and guests only.

Staff will present background information that defines the requirements to obtain a membership to the AAC.  Staff will also give an overview of the Texas Homestead Exemption Requirements, discuss the prior AAC membership ordinance from 1990 that provided Director's Discretion and make a recommendation to Council regarding potential modifications to current AAC membership requirements.
