AGENDA CAPTION:

Consider Action on a Resolution Approving the Master Interlocal Agreement Between the Town of Addison and Dallas County for Road and Bridge Related Improvements and Maintenance for Designated Roadways Situated Within the Territorial Limits of Addison; and, Authorizing the City Manager to Execute the Agreement.

BACKGROUND:

The purpose of this item is to approve a Master Interlocal Agreement between the Town of Addison and Dallas County for transportation-related maintenance on certain designated roadways.

Dallas County, through its Road and Bridge Master Interlocal Agreement program, partners with cities within the county on transportation-related improvement and maintenance projects. This master agreement allows the cities to enter into subsequent Project Specific Agreements with Dallas County for eligible road maintenance project costs.

Addison currently has two master interlocal agreements with Dallas County for joint funding of projects. The agreement covering major capital improvement projects, such as Midway Road and Keller Springs Road, was renewed in January 2021 for a period of ten years.

This Road and Bridge Master Interlocal Agreement covers major maintenance projects, was executed in November 2017, and is set to expire on December 31, 2022. The most recent project utilizing this agreement was the 2022 Addison Road Maintenance Project, in which Dallas County granted the Town $496,500 for asphalt repairs. Addison and Dallas County's great project partnerships have been very successful.

If approved, this Master Interlocal Agreement will provide for continued partnership on these types of projects until December 31, 2027.

RECOMMENDATION:

Administration recommends approval.
