Present and Discuss Metrocrest Services' Request for a Contribution to Their Building Our Future Capital Campaign.

BACKGROUND:

For 50 years, Metrocrest Services has assisted families, individuals, and senior adults who are coping with crisis situations, need help stabilizing their lives, or who require support to live independently. Basic services include rent and utility bill aid, financial and budgeting assistance and food. Metrocrest Serrvices also provides employment counseling along with gas cards or bus vouchers for job-seekers and transportation, minor home repairs, and home-delivered meals benefit seniors. Seasonal distributions include school shoes and supplies for students, Sack Summer Hunger food for youngsters, and November and December holiday programs.

Metrocrest Services Director Tracy Eubanks will introduce their Building Our Future capital campaign which seeks to increase capacity and improve services and programs with a new Center for Community Support. The center is positioned on 4.6 acres of property at the intersection of Josey and Belt Line in Carrollton. The 48,000 square-foot center will be a hub of Metrocrest's activity and resources. The center will provide space that is customized to fit their clients’ needs and provide flexibility as new needs arise, such as disaster recovery efforts. In the Center for Community Support, Metrocrest Services will be able to provide clients with direct access to a full menu of comprehensive and complementary services to support them in their journey to better health and financial independence.

Metrocrest Services is respectfully requesting a contribution of $120,000 from the Town of Addison toward their Building Our Future capital campaign. Metrocrest Services will be making similar requests to the other three cities in their service area for a total combined commitment of $2,000,000.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff seeks direction from Council.
