Present and Discuss Recognition Options for Former Addison Police Officer Ronnie Cox.

BACKGROUND:

This item was placed on the agenda at the request of Council members Marlin Willesen and Paul Walden. On December 15, 1986, Addison Police Officer Ronnie Cox was killed in the line off duty serving a narcotics warrant in the City of Dallas. Currently, there is not any type of formal memorial or official recognition of Officer Cox's sacrifice within the Town.

Staff will provide an overview of the recognition for fallen Addison Firefighter Stephen Webb, show several examples of other cities recognition efforts for officers killed in the line of duty and offer Council options for discussion.

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff requests direction from Council.
